Dennis- I E-mailed the WDFW a few weeks back asking about the very same
thing you just mentioned in your weekly fishing report. I have included my
E-mail and their response. I also have a copy of this that I carry along
with my rod and fly box while fishing the Stilly. This is inyeresting!!!
Had a good time yesterday with Mike- what a great kid. You're a lucky man to
have such a fine son. Thanks for everything.

Great opener vs Snohomish!!

Thank you for your email correspondence to the Washington Department of Fish
and
Wildlife (WDFW) Fish Program.

If you are going fishing in an area of the Stillaguamish River that has a
Selective Gear Rule, and also has a rule to release Chinook and Pink Salmon
it
really doesn't matter what color your fly or lure is, as long as it doesn't
have
any bait or scent on it, and it is equipped with a single barbless hook, so
when
that Salmon fishery opens on September 1st anglers may keep Coho and Chum
Salmon, but they must release Chinook and Pink Salmon if they hook one.

Please make sure you check for emergency rule changes before you harvest as
follows:

Fishing Rule Change Hotline at (360) 902-2500
Shellfish Rule Change Hotline at 1-866-880-5431
Or, try our new searchable emergency rule link off our website at:
https://fortress.wa.gov/dfw/erules/efishrules/index.jsp

Additionally, for shellfish, make sure to call the Dept. of Health Marine
Toxins
PSP Hotline at 1-800-562-5632.

If you have further questions, please email again or call (360) 902-2700.
Our
Customer Service hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Sincerely,
Fish Program
